How I Deal With the Events of the Last Few Weeks

Ms. Borst

During the most difficult times in life, I start focusing on what I control.  I cannot control the actions of others; I didn’t make those choices and they don’t reflect my philosophies in life.

I only control my thoughts and actions, so I read the headlines, but not whole articles when they are filled with disgusting or horrifying details.  I won’t read about the worst actions and behaviors that people exhibit.  I won’t let my mind take me to the darkest places where others wallow and live.

I want to focus on my purpose in life.  I believe I have a higher purpose than allowing these things to cripple me.  I want to be a consistent role model that my students can count on when they walk in my classroom.
