August 11, 2025, was the marking of a fresh chapter for some, and for others it began the closing of their high school years. The seniors showed up early to witness the sunrise on their last first day of high school.

By 6:50 AM, the football field was packed with seniors, all taking photos capturing the orange and gold moments. “It made me think about how quickly high school has gone by and how I have to start thinking about college,” said senior Christopher Cherp.

Walking through Cypress’s halls, there was a mix of excitement and nostalgia. Seniors laughed harder than usual, clung to their friends, and took a million photos. It wasn’t just about being with their peers; it was about holding onto their last moments together. “It impacted me by making me realize time really does go by fast, and to live day by day,” said senior Hennessy Villeta.

In 10 months, the seniors will be gone and on to a new chapter of life and soon enough that will be the underclassmen, and so on. Watching the seniors reminds students that high school moves fast. This might be the upperclassmen’s last year of high school, but it’s also the beginning of whatever their next years have in store.
