Fall. That was the spirit that was felt by any freshman that walked in the side entrance of Cypress Creek High School’s Gymnasium to sit in the freshman section to experience the Four Seasons pep rally that occurred on Friday Sept 13, at 8:48 am between the end of second period and before the start of third period.
“The pep rally was so fun and loud.” said freshman Aj Ortiz.
Each class had a season. Winter for Seniors, Spring for Juniors, Summer for Sophomores and Fall for Freshmen. The reason there was a season themed pep rally was to celebrate the upcoming football game that night and reference the upcoming Homecoming fall themed dance the following night after. Sitting in the freshman section filled with hundreds of the large 2,000 student roster that goes to Cypress was AJ, who was enjoying the pep rally as he was standing.
“It was fun. I liked the energy and the games.” stated Ortiz.
When the Bands of Cypress Creek finished their energizing performance, it was time for a game of the usual tic tac toe race that Cypress does at almost every single pep rally.
“I liked tic-tac-toe because I just thought it looked fun. And how it was a race, and a lot of people kept on cheating.” said Ortiz.
Moments later after the exciting game of tic-tac-toe, it was time for the principal of Cypress Creek High School, Mrs. Carin Hetzler-Nettles, and Mr. Warren Underwood, the director and teacher of the theatre department and studies to announce the teacher of the year which was announced to be Mr. Trent Wisser, the Foundations of Journalism teacher and also Aj’s Photojournalism teacher.
Ortiz later stated that his favorite moment of the pep rally was “When Mr. Wisser got his award.”
Even though the freshmen did not win the spirit stick, it was still an exciting and energizing pep rally and AJ had the time of his life.
“I enjoyed all the games and everyone yelling. It made me more energized throughout the day.” commented Ortiz.
