Student Government is a group of students who are nominated or selected to represent the student body and oversee school-related events, policies, and projects. The SGA is organized into roles, each with different responsibilities. They are all, however, responsible for managing events, activities, and programs that affect the school. This can include pep rallies, spirit weeks, assemblies, dances, etc. They also represent the student body’s interests and concerns, and work to improve the student experience.
“All of SGA works together to make class of 2026 the most spirited and we go out of our way to give inspo for our class and make sure everyone is involved,” said junior Bruna Paulino.
This year’s Student Government of 2626 is made up of a diverse group of students along with its class sponsor Warren Underwood who are all motivated to make a difference. Leading the team is Lindsay Fulop, who has been involved in student leadership for quite some time and shows their excitement about promoting school spirit and improving communication between the administration and students. Vice President, Bruna Paulino, shares similar goals and is particularly focused on bringing more student involvement and spirit. Other key members of the team include Kayla Mendonza the secretary, Cason Corrao the treasurer, Alyssa Maldonado the historian and Abby Francisco the advertiser.
“I take a lot of photos for the school already; I wanted to be more active and involved and advertising for our class helps that,” said junior Abigail Francisco.
This year the student government is making plans to better our school. They are planning on doing fundraisers to raise money for the class and trying to get students more involved by receiving opinions and ideas from the student body. They are also going to use pep rallies to their advantage and try to find the best methods possible to get as many students involved as possible to raise the spirit.
“We want everyone to feel like they’re involved, not just certain groups because we want everyone to feel like they are involved in the spirit of the school,” said Paulino.
With a strong team and exciting goals, the student government is determined to make this year one for the books. As the school year progresses, they are dedicated to making a positive impact. Whether it’s through new events, improved communication, or increased student participation, be sure to keep an eye out for upcoming events and ways to participate in them.
“I want to help support our school and make sure everyone has a great time at all the events this year,” said junior Alyssa Maldonado.
