The bell rings, releasing students from second period. Crowds come rushing into the gymnasium, the stands overflowing with excitement. It was the very first pep rally of the Cypress Creek Coyotes 2024-2025 school year. Students dressed in their best attire according to their associated season based on their grades.
“I was so excited for my first ever high school pep rally, and decorating the freshman section was so fun. I can’t wait for the next pep rally,” said class of ‘28 Senator, Makenna Lawler.
Freshmen were dressed in all black or fall attire. Sophomores had on their best summer clothes or pink outfits. Juniors were suited out in purple or spring. Seniors had on blue or winter clothes. The competition for the spirit stick was on. It was the homecoming week pep rally.
“The pep rally was so loud and exciting that my ears were ringing for a while after,” said student freshman Gabriel Figueredo.
The crowds were ecstatic, every section cheering as loud as they could for the game winners. Cheers were through the roof when the dancers came on, performing their intricate routines. Songs Get Low by Lil Jon and Crazy In Love by Beyonce came on and the dancers danced.
“I was very excited and nervous. It wasn’t like any other pep rally I had been in; it was very hyped up.” said first-year pep rally performer in the dance department, Izzy Martinez.
Not only did the dance performances get the crowd excited but so did the games. The games were rock paper race, tic tac toe relay, and table surfing. During the table surfing, freshman Kaylee Thompson, who rode on the table, fell off as soon as the game started. Causing the freshmen to place last.
“Oh God! Everybody was rolling over each other. It was ecstatic, so much chaos but it was so much fun,” said class of ‘28 Advertiser, Kylee Axcius, who participated in the table surfing game.
