Kazakhstan is a home country for three students at Cypress Creek High School. But what is Kazakhstan? Have you ever heard about this country or about the culture of Kazakhstan?
Kazakhstan is ninth largest country in the world, and this is the largest landlocked country. The name “Kazakhstan” is significant. When directly translated, Kazakhstan means “Land of Wanderers.”
People from Kazakhstan are cheerful, honest, and warm-hearted. We can investigate and find out about their origin. Kazakhs are a Turkic ethnic group and were once horse-riding nomads. Kazakh people of Central Asia inhabiting mainly Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is home to around 130 ethnic groups, including Kazakhs, Russians, Uzbeks, Uyghurs, and Ukrainians. This country guarantees freedom of religion, but the majority of Kazakhs practice Sunni Islam.
Besides welcoming people and interesting culture, Kazakhstan is a such beautiful country with untouched natural beauty. People call this country “Kazakhstan – country of mountains.” Which is not surprising, because in the southeast and northeast, Kazakhstan is surrounded by some of the largest mountain ranges in the world, the Altai and Tien Shan.
One of the students from Kazakhstan is Baktykarim Artygaliev. He is a senior. When he got asked about what places in his homeland he would show to people who have never been there before, he said “I would probably show BAL (the Big Almaty Lake) and Shymbulak Mountain.” Artygaliev lived in Almaty, the biggest city in Kazakhstan. The beauty of this country’s nature is extremely significant, and this makes sense that Artygaliev named such pretty places.
Kazakhstan is 6849 miles away from Florida. An average nonstop flight from the United States to Kazakhstan takes 24 hours and 42 minutes. But why do people go all the way to come to the USA? The answer is simple and short, they come here for better future and opportunities they can find in the United States.
Another student from Kazakhstan is freshman Ramzan Yuldashev. “I came here year ago, and here everything is so different than what I am used to. But here in the United States I can find so many opportunities,” said Yuldashev.
But not including their future in the US, it is a great place to get to know diverse cultures, meet interesting people, and try to do things you have ever dreamed of!
