BICYCLE KICK. Sophomore Thomas Garcia is warming up to play Anclote trying to hit his signature goal called a bicycle kick. When Cypress Creek started the game against Anclote Garcia finally got the opportunity to hit the bicycle kick and he goes up for but barely misses wide because the amount of skill it takes to hit a bicycle is unimaginable. “I am a little disappointed that I was not able to score the bicycle, but I am not mad because I know it is one of the hardest skills to do in soccer,” said sophomore Tomas Garcia.

Champions League 

Cypress Creek soccer team for the first time is in one of the highest leagues this year: the Champions League. Cypress Creek will be taking on some of the hardest teams in Florida such as Palm Harbor University, Wiregrass, Sunlake, Mitchell, Largo, and the rivals Wesley Chapel. Wesley Chapel has always been a very intense game for Cypress, constantly back and forth. 

Senior Jose Pacheco said, “Last year was a hard year for us but we persevered and pushed through the season.” The year 2023- 2024 was a great season for the Cypress Creek soccer team and got Cypress where they are today. 

The Champions League. Cypress Creek had a 10-6 overall record for last year beating teams like Wiregrass Ranch, Wesley Chapel, and more. 

Senior Chase LaSasso, “Out of all the seasons we had this may be the toughest one, so we must work hard and preserver.”  

Cypress Creek soccer practices every single day of the week besides when its game day. Practicing with the team every day allows them to build chemistry and work better together. The hard work from practice is paying off as Cypress Creek’s record so far is four wins and one loss and they still have games yet to come. 

Senior Diego Fuentes Giral said, “As a captain on varsity I need to make sure everyone is working well together and communicating with each other and getting along.”

GOLDEN CORNER. Junior Ezekiel Menjivar is taking a beautiful corner kick against Anclote, aiming to hit right in the center of the 18-yard box so one of the strikers can put a head on it to be a goal. Menjivar had a wonderful game that day getting 2 assists to help his team. Junior Ezekiel Menjivar said, “Taking corner kicks can be really nerve racking because the team is counting on me to get it in the perfect spot to score a goal."

Alexandria Bane running her way through the finish line. “I have a bible verse written on my shoe and it gives me motivation while I am running.” said Bane.
Running With Coyotes
First step on the field. Two freshman linemen, bound by passion and fueled by the desire to prove themselves. With every snap, they’re ready to bring the intensity, crash through the line, and make every tackle count. They may be new to the team, but their drive, heart, and determination are already making waves. Each play is an opportunity to showcase their grit and remind everyone that they’re here to compete at the highest level. Watch out—these freshmen are just getting started! “I look forward to my next four years in football and one day I want someone to look up to me”. Freshman Trevor Thomas Said.
5-Star Freshies
Diving into victory, Gianna Sercu dives in as an anchor for the Coyotes 200-yard medley relay. Sercu is diving in for the last 50-yard freestyle in the 200 medley to finish off the race at districts. As Sercu dives in she does a 26.66 second 50 free where she beats her old time and is now a new personal best for her and brings the relay team to a great finish. Sophomore Gianna Sercu said, “I feel accomplished, and I set my goals which I was able to achieve them.”
From Setback To States
The Spike. Addison Wilkes, a freshman on Cypress Creek volleyball spikes the ball on her opponents, Angelene Academy. As the ball whistled through the air, it smacked the ground, scoring the Creek a point. Wilkes had an exceptional performance in this game, which influenced Cypress to take the Win. “I was nervous because I wanted to do well and show my team that just because I’m young I’m not any less. I was very proud of myself for how I played that game, and it was a highlight of my season.” Said freshman Addison Wilkes.
