Throughout the football season, the Cypress Creek Coyotes struggled to stay on top of their game. All season, the Coyotes found themselves in a position where they couldn’t seem to get a lead, and when they did, they couldn’t hold it for very long. But even through all the losses there was always one thing you could count on the creek for, The Creek Crew.
On October 25th, 2024, the Cypress Creek Coyotes took on the Gaither Cowboys in a football game at Cypress Creek High School. Throughout the game it was clear that the Coyotes were struggling, but even with the harsh loss of 42-0, the Creek Crew was still active.
Sophomore Jack Sanford said “If it weren’t for the Creek Crew, I wouldn’t go to the football games. The energy they bring is unmatched and they were the highlight of the nights all season”.
The Creek Crew wasn’t just a small group of students cheering weakly for their team, it was a force of spirit and school pride that could be felt from across the field. Wearing green and gold as a symbol of honor in the stands, the Creek Crew proudly displayed their love for The Creek, despite what was on the scoreboard. And even with the struggle on the field, the Creek Crew never backed down.
Sophomore Grace Reynolds said, “The Creek Crews spirit boosted the players confidence and brought the schools community together”.
With new themes every week, the Creek Crew didn’t disappoint. Nearly every student dressed out and brought the boom. Camo, USA, Green & Gold, Pink out, Blackout. All themes the Creek Crew brought to the games that had them all riled up. With the constant positive vibes, the fun was contagious, even when the wins weren’t.
Sophomore Lynden Fox said “The Creek Crew always brings the energy no matter the outcome and its really inspiring to be a part of this group”
It all came down to the final game of the season. The Boyette Brawl. The battle of Boyette Road. Coming into the final game with the team’s record of 0-9, many would expect the Creek Crew to be discouraged, but those who were at the game know, it was the opposite. Knowing it was the Coyotes’ final chance to make a stand, the Creek Crew brought more spirit than ever. Facing the Wesely Chapel Wild Cats on their turf, the Creek Crew filled the aways stands with spirit, pride, and excitement.
Sophomore Jake McArdle said “The rivalry between the schools really brought the student section to life and hope to the 0-9 team”
Unfortunately, by the end of the night the Coyotes didn’t come out on top. But by the next morning, it wasn’t the 0-10 record everyone remembered, but the unstoppable spirit from the Creek Crew throughout the whole season, proving that the heart of a community isn’t quite measured in victories, rather in how they rally together no matter the odds. Junior, Taaha Khan said “When the night was over, and daylight shined the memory of the lost game was a passed thought, but the memories of the Creek Crew will remain in my heart forever”
