Students at Cypress Creek High School consume energy drinks. From Monsters, Redbulls, and Kickstarts to Celsius and Starbucks. They might not be the healthiest option, but students still gravitate towards them to boost their energy. Students drink energy drinks to get them through the end of the long school day and after school activities.
“I have been drinking Celsius since eighth grade consistently, and I usually crash at the end of the day,” said senior Camryn Paradise.
Not only that, but Paradise is an athlete, and Celsius reported that their energy drinks help athletes boost their metabolism.
According to the website brandcredentials.com, “The company focuses on promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, aiming to inspire individuals to push their limits and achieve their fitness goals.”
Multiple students have also claimed that having an energy drink with them helps their school performance. The caffeine in these drinks is proven to increase alertness, attention, and energy.
On the other hand, many students also do not prefer energy drinks. Based on the CDC.gov website, “They can have negative side effects like dehydration, heart complications, and anxiety.”
Some students, however, aren’t fans of the energy drinks.
Junior Emeri Moseley agrees with this opinion. She said, “Water is easier to get down food plus it’s also healthier.” Although it does not provide extra energy, students consistently bring water to school.
Junior Nyah Cannady said, “Water is hydrating and it’s important to drink water during hot days.”
Drinking water during school can help your body maintain a healthy temperature, and may improve cognition functioning, and keeps children able to learn.
