Mostly all the girls who were selected to be on the coyotes varsity girls’ soccer team have been playing soccer practically their whole lives. After all this dedication and hard work, they won district championships for the third year in a row. This victory shows the weeks of practice, determination, and teamwork, every girl contributed to secure the district championship title.
“Winning district champions felt amazing, the whole team worked really hard to get here and I couldn’t be happier,” said junior Darcy Pittman
The championship game, held on Tuesday night January 28, had a final score of six to one with Cypress Creek High School dominating their rivals Wesley Chapel high school. The stands were filled with friends and family showing their endless support for their girls. For the girls, this win was especially meaningful. Many of the players have dedicated practically their whole lives to soccer and dominating this game with an amazing final score is something to be beyond proud of.
“I’ve been playing soccer for 12 years, I started in a recreational league and then did club through middle school until I finally started playing in high school,” said senior Annalise Vizza
Coach McFayden has been coaching soccer for 15 years and has expressed immense passion for the sport. This is his first year coaching the Cypress Creek varsity girls’ soccer team and although it was his first year, he still coached the girls to victory. Coach Mcfayden expressed his thoughts on the team’s win, and he could not be any prouder of what they achieved that night and worked so hard for the whole season.
“I felt very proud of the girls they worked hard all season, and they deserved it,” said Coach McFayden
The championship win was not just about the final score, it was also about the journey it took to get there. A good team is a team which consists of players and a coach who support each other and have each other’s back. They encourage one another to succeed and play to their full potential. Without this support and bond between the girls they never would have been able to get to where they got to. A win like this reflects all the hard work and sacrifices each player made.
“Me and my team all bond with each other and it truly feels like a family,” said freshman Makenna Lawler
Now that they have taken the title for the district championship game the girls are still putting in the hard work to keep advancing throughout regionals. Although the excitement and the feeling that rushes through your body once you have won something you have worked so hard for has become a reality, it is not just about winning. It is about showing everyone what years of dedication and good teamwork can achieve.
“Winning felt really good, I’m really happy we were able to win against our rivals,” said Darcy Pittman
The girls’ soccer team has truly proven that with hard work and dedication you can achieve amazing things. With the district championship now in their hands, it is clear this group of athletes have a bright future ahead of them.
“I think the girls’ future will be in their hands if they decide to put the effort and work in. I think the sky’s the limit,” said McFayden.
